Land Rover says its all-new 2013 Range Rover, like its
predecessors, has been built with a blend of luxury and has a clean,
elegant shape that is derived from a fresh interpretation of Range Rover design
cues.
Instantly recognisable as a Range Rover, the new
vehicle takes a significant step forward with bold evolution of the iconic
design.
Alliance Motors Ghana Limited, the official dealer
of Range Rover in Ghana, unveilled the latest model of all-new Range Rover model
to its customers in Accra.
Mr. Mark Simmons, United Kingdom’s Minister for Africa, addressing the gathering said the new Range Rover makes yet another strong statement of the company’s leadership in the luxury car segment with an extensive range of changes in design and technology.
“Without doubt, the new generation Range Rover is the most intelligent and most exhilarating Range Rover ever; in South Africa it made 14% growth, which is significant, and we know it is going to be considered seriously in Ghana,” he said.
Mr. Simmons stated that the Range Rover has always come to mind when the term ‘luxury Sport Utility Vehicle’ (SUV) is used in the motor industry.

This, he said, is the world’s finest luxury SUV --
which has undergone yet another reinvention in creating the fourth-generation
Range Rover.
Mr. Sean Renton, the General Manager for Land Rover Experience, explained that the latest generation of Range Rover has a wide array of subtle and deliberate changes to help keep the car ahead of its competitors.
He added that the greatest new engineering feat is the world’s first lightweight all-aluminum body structure in an SUV. The new body is 39 percent lighter than its predecessor, enabling a weight saving of up to 420 kilogrammes.

“Designing the next-generation Range Rover,
following over 40 years of success, came with a huge responsibility to protect
the DNA of such an icon.
“Our design team worked incredibly hard to capture the elegant proportions and pure surfaces which have been a feature of the best Range Rover designs,” Mr. Renton said.

Safety and Security
The vehicle features an advanced, all-aluminum
structure that is immensely strong and weight-efficient to withstand the
punishing impacts of extreme conditions both on and off-road.
The aluminum body is optimised to help provide
structural integrity, increased stiffness and safety, as well as improved
performance and enhanced sustainability.
The command driving position provides drivers with a
supreme sense of confidence and control, whatever the road conditions. It’s an
essential part of the Range Rover DNA.
The Range Rover places the driver in an elevated
command driving position for a better view. The sense of control is enhanced by
outstanding forward visibility over the characteristic profile of the bonnet
and clear visibility to the side.
The upward vision has also been improved, enhancing
visibility in undulating terrain and improved view of overhead signs and
traffic lights.
The all-new Range Rover has been engineered from the
ground up to be the most refined, most capable Range Rover ever.
With the adoption of the latest body and Chassis
technologies, the vehicle’s all-terrain performance has moved on to another
level, both in the breadth and
accessibility of its off-road capability, and its
on-road handling and refinement.
Another great addition to the new Range Rover is the
all-new four-corner air suspension which delivers flatter and more confident
cornering, whilst also providing a more natural steering feel.
The 3.0 litre LR-TDV6 offers effortless performance
with outstanding power, and responsiveness throughout the range is delivered by
parallel sequential turbo charging.
The intelligent stop and start system automatically
shuts off the engine in milliseconds, helping to ensure carbon-friendly
credentials when the engine is switched off, and emissions of 196g/km.
Active vanes in the main grille optimise
aerodynamics by blanking off the grille when cooling airflow isn’t needed.
On-road
experience
The new Range Rover’s fuel-efficient diesel engine comes with two engine options, each a version of the same 5.0 litre V8 engine.
Impressive sound isolation inside the Range Rover means users will not hear the engine, but it offers excellent passing power with a smooth power curve. The many systems that make up active dynamics mean that the Range Rover handles like a sports car.
The Range Rover, of course, has an adaptive air suspension system with adjustable ride height that lowers the vehicle as much as possible when rolling down the highway. This system is used extensively when going off-road.
The on-Road of the all-new Range Rover has been transformed with improved on-road handling and more confident, agile cornering that delivers swift and effortless performance with its highly acclaimed line-up of torque-rich engines.
Off-Road Experience
When spending time off-road, the coolest part of the fourth-generation Range Rover is the new terrain-response auto system.
Think “smart automatic transmission for terrain
types”: drivers can also manually select different terrain -- which
dramatically changes the driving dynamics of the system. This is important
because driving over mud has different needs than over rocks.
It wouldn’t be a modern Range Rover without thenow iconic descent control system that makes going down-hill very convenient. Rather than having to play with the brake going down a hill, the system automatically ensures a comfortable speed when going down, especially over rough terrain.

Interior
With its refined and tranquil interior, the all-new
Range Rover provides all occupants with a supremely relaxing and comfortable
environment.
To provide the serene isolation from the world
outside, advanced computer simulations have helped to eliminate all unwanted
engine noise without compromising power.
A range of
detailed innovations have reduced wind and road noise.
The optimised
body structure, acoustic lamination of the windscreen and side-door glass, as
well as new dual isolated engine-mounts, ensure the Range Rover is best in
class for on-road refinement.
