ICC, International Court to train Arbitrators



The International Chamber of Commerce Ghana (ICC Ghana) in collaboration with the International Court of Arbitration is organising its maiden training on International Commercial Arbitration at the World Trade Centre Accra.
 
The seminar scheduled for 20th and 21st of April 2016 is aimed at providing participants with first-hand experience and understanding of the ICC Arbitration procedure through practical and interactive sessions.

Participants are expected to study the arbitration proceedings through the simulation of a mock case, while the training is specifically designed to address current issues involving the ICC’s International Court of Arbitration, corporate bodies and state institutions.

Mr. Emmanuel Doni-Kwame, Secretary-General of ICC Ghana, explained that the seminar has become necessary as a result of the interest in cases involving Ghana at the international court.

In view of this, the resource persons have been carefully selected and consulted, both local and from abroad, to help undertake the training programme so as to ensure participants acquire the requisite practical knowledge of the court.

Among other trainers are included: Sarah Reynolds Associate, Mayer Brown’s International Arbitration Practice Group Member, ICC International Court of Arbitration and ICDR; and Nene Amegatcher Member, ICC International Court of Arbitration; Joachim Kuckenburg Partner, KAB-Kuckenburg, Bureth Boineau et Associes.

Sami Houerbi, Advocate, Supreme Court of Tunisia, Director for the Mediterranean, Middle East & Africa, ICC International Court of Arbitration, Partner Houerbi Law Firm, Dubai/ Tunis; as well as Tunde Ogunseitan Counsel, ICC International Court of Arbitration, Paris; and Ace Ankomah, Partner, Bentsi Enchill Letsa & Ankomah among others.
