buzzpaid payment platform takes off

An online payment platform aimed at expanding the frontiers of local business while mitigating the inconveniences consumers have to undergo in purchasing a product or service has been launched in the country.

The platform, buzzpaid.com, which has been functional since last month, is expected to host a wide spectrum of both local and international customers through electronic payment services.

Mr. Ato Peterson, Chief Executive Officer of buzzpaid.com, explained in an interview with the B&FT that “the deployment of this online platform is a major part of our broad strategy to ensure that Ghana is not left behind in information technology advancements worldwide.”

buzzpaid is a pre-paid digital service that enables Ghanaian residents and businesses to pay for goods and services simply, quickly and safely online and via SMS message.

Mr. Peterson, a Ghanaian entrepreneur, said the service is aimed at revolutionising e-commerce in the country.

He explained that the system has been developed to enhance payment of taxes, school-fees among others, and has also been designed to produce detailed reports for tracking by government agencies and departments.

It has also been developed to promote informal sector business operators who are outside the country’s banking operations.

“Consumers are able to purchase products of any kind and anywhere in the comfort of their homes or offices while they wait patiently for delivery.

“This will provide great benefits for local businesses, since they can now expand their market base across the country, keep shops open 24/7 and automate sales processes.

“In Ghana today, people are at times subjected to hours of traffic to purchase their goods and make household payments. With buzzpaid.com, any Ghanaian will be able to sit in the comfort of his/her home and purchase household goods, food, clothing and other goods online, receive them and make payments without leaving their desk.”

Regarding how buzzpaid.com works, he explained that prospective visitors to the platform must first register online to set up and obtain a unique customer account number.

Personal and corporate account holders can pay into or transfer money into a prepaid buzzpaid account at any of the participating banks in the country.

Merchants can start accepting online payments by simply adding a “Pay now with buzzpaid” button onto their site.
He assured prospective customers of the security guarantees in using the platform, adding that the product has gone through rigorous authentication and authorisation formalities with a view to preventing fraudulent activities and hacking of the systems.

“Customers should expect an unforgettable experience once they initiate business on the platform. We’ll continue to be guided by business intelligence to make the customer experience more enjoyable and stress-free.

“Our mission is to organise business information in a way that customers can access and utilise far more easily and readily than they’ve typically been able to do all these years,” Mr. Peterson remarked.
