A Job Recruitment Clinic (JRC) aimed at preparing and equipping
Polytechnic students nationwide for the current competitive job market
has commenced.
Izwe Loans Limited, one of the country’s largest
non-banking financial institutions spearheading the project believes
that equipping tertiary students adequately with the requisite knowledge
about the dynamics in the present day requirement of the corporate
sector is essential.
The JRC project which began with Accra
Polytechnic saw about 100 students from various departments including
Higher National Diploma (HND) Marketing, Accounting, Building and
Construction, Engineering, Laboratory Technicians and among others.
Among
other topics discussed included; preparing a winnable curriculum Vitae
(C.V), preparation for job interviews. The student also had the
opportunity to interact with the engaged the students with the
management of the company to deliberate the wayward after school.
Making
a presentation at the event, a renowned Human Resource practitioner,
Kojo Vaness, a lead consultant at the Central Consult explained that
students must endeavor to prepare themselves adequately for the present
day job market which comes with keen competition.
Mr. Vannes
observed that C.V is a summary of the job seekers personality as it
provides a window of opportunity for the prospective job seekers, and
urged students to research about the background of their dream companies
and organisations before attending any interview.
Robert Koomson,
Call Centre Manager told B&FT that the objective of the programme
is mainly to equip the students adequately for the present day
competitive job market especially those in the public institutions like
the Polytechnics.
He explained that as part of the Izwe’s
corporate social responsibility the project is being expanded to all
other Polytechnics nation-wide to ensure that students are sufficiently
prepared to meet the challenges in the corporate sector.
“Our Job
Recruitment Clinic programme for the Polytechnics has been structured to
ensure that students can even secure job as sales agents and earn
salaries whiles in school,” he confirmed.
Mr. Koomson explained
that the programme forms part of the company’s broader strategy of
deploying It corporate social responsibility strategy and also forms
part of the company’s fifth anniversary celebration.
Izwe Ghana
is part of the Izwe Africa Group of Companies, a Pan-African financial
services business with operations in Ghana, Zambia, Kenya and South
Africa.
Mr. Raymond Kwakye Bismarck, Managing Director of Izwe
Loans Limited said the company was strategically positioned to close the
gap in the financial service by offering more proactive services to the
lower and middle income market.
Touching on the strategies
adopted by the company, he said “we run a well-designed and proven
business model built around technologies which allow automated selection
and credit vetting.
“We pride ourselves on our very strong
collection systems and processes that make us one of the top performers
in loan recoveries in Ghana”.
Mr Bismarck said the company has
also designed client focused products adding “it is these principles
that have underpinned our strength in the market place”.
