Beginning March 1st, 2016, seasoned banker Daniel Asiedu will begin another chapter in his highly successful banking career as the new Managing Director of state-controlled bank, Agricultural Development Bank Limited (ADB).
The
announcement was made by the bank’s Board Chairman, Nana Soglo Alloh IV, in a
press statement.
Mr. Asiedu, a financial specialist,
brings on board his rich experience in the banking industry having been at the
helm of affairs at Zenith Bank in Ghana as the Managing Director for more than a
period of six years, and served the Zenith Group for over 16 years.
Despite taking on the unenviable
job of making Zenith Bank -- a new addition to the banking landscape of Ghana
at the time -- the preferred banking institution in the country, taking on the
job of ADB’s boss at this time is arguably tougher than his earlier
appointment.
The Chartered Accountant with about twenty (20) years
working experience takes over ADB at a time when the bank has gone through a year
of bad publicity from courtroom battles, with local unions launching and
suspending the bank’s Initial Public Offering (IPO) on more than two occasions,
and finally the resignation of Stephen Kpordzih.
But he comes to the job with extensive expertise in
auditing, business consulting, general banking, financial management and
investment. His working experience ranges from PricewaterhouseCoopers, Zenith
Bank Plc, Volta River Authority (VRA) and Standard Trust Bank Ghana Ltd. (now
UBA (Gh.) Ltd).
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and an Executive Masters degree in
Business Administration (Finance Option) from the University of Ghana.
Mr. Asiedu has also attended many courses both locally
and internationally including Executive Management courses at Harvard Business
School, Columbia University, The Wharton Business School (University of
Pennsylvania), Stanford Graduate Business School, Kellogg School of Management,
INSEAD and Euromoney Training.
He joined Zenith Bank
Ghana as the Chief Operating Officer in 2005, and through the dint of hard work
and incalculable sacrifices he was appointed Executive Director of the bank in
July 2009. Within six months he was elevated to the position of Managing Director/Chief
Executive Officer of Zenith Bank in January 2010 -- the first Ghanaian to hold
this post.
During his tenure Zenith chalked up many
successes and won numerous awards, both locally and internationally.
He has won some key
accolades for service excellence: such as Outstanding Role Model Award (2008
and 2009); Exceptional Leadership Award (2008); and Staff of the Year (1998) at
PricewaterhouseCoopers.
He is an honoured
member of the International WHO’S WHO Historical Society of Professionals. A
family man, Mr. Asiedu's devout love of the Gospel and selflessness has also
seen him making time from his otherwise busy schedule to preach – thus, he is not
only a renowned Minister of the Gospel of Christ, but also a Motivational
Speaker and Business Coach.
