Gold Fields Ghana Limited has presented assorted medical
items valued at about GH¢35,000 to support the June 3 disaster victims undergoing
treatment at the National Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre of
the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
Mr. Alfred Baku, Executive Vice President of Gold
Fields’ West Africa Operations presenting the items at the hospital said the
items -- part of the company’s social responsibility -- are meant to support
the work of medical practitioners toward helping to heal the flood and fire
victims.
Wishing the victims a speedy recovery, the medical
practitioners said: “They say mining is very difficult but we believe that your
work is also equally difficult, and thanks for all the support you are showing
the victims”.
Dr. Samuel Asiamah, Medical Director at the Burns
Centre, thanked GoldFileds for its support and asked the mining community and
general public to show more support toward the health sector.
