Commodities show mixed fortunes


The country exported about 431,870 tonnes of cocoa beans in 2013, showing a decrease of 35 percent as compared to the previous year’s performance according to maritime trade figures.
 
The data shows that other commodities included export of cocoa products amounted to 188,017 tonnes, representing an increase of 6% from the 2012 tonnage; log timber recording 122,452 tonnes, a decrease of over 55%; shea nut and shea butter recorded 58,528 tonnes, which amounted to an increase of over 67 percent.

Additionally, the data indicated that export of bauxite increased by more than seven percent, while manganese export increased by 35% and bulk shea nut export also saw about 30 percent increase in tonnage during the review period.
